Does Biden’s sundown syndrome leave the nation at risk?

Sundown at the Brink:
A Potential Nuclear Nightmare?

No matter what side of the political spectrum you reside, it should be painfully clear by now that President Biden suffers from sundown syndrome. Sundown syndrome was first coined by Lois K. Evans in the late eighties to describe how the elderly with early signs of dementia suffer from memory issues, confusion, jumbled speech, and unsteady walking that gets much worse after the sun sets. Had the debate with Trump taken place in the morning, his performance probably would have been much better but not perfect.

The real question for the Democratic Party should be will Biden have the grace, dignity, and foresight to step down and let a more capable and articulate younger candidate carry the torch for the party. Just like an aging athlete who comes to the realization that he doesn’t have the skillsets anymore to help his team win, Biden should put his ego aside,  step down and support his party from the sidelines.  As president, it’s not enough to be surrounded by people who know what they’re doing, you need to know what you’re doing, especially after sunset.

The Dragonfly Report spoke to BJ Lewinsky (no relation to Monica), a political science professor and futurist out of a think tank at Contra Costa College in San Pablo, California about one of the risks inherent in having a president with sundown syndrome. Here’s what she had to say:

“Foreign adversaries, aware of the potential for erratic behavior, might launch a surprise attack during nighttime hours, hoping to catch the leader in a vulnerable state. Let’s take the extreme example of an incoming nuclear attack taking place after sundown. In spite of the two-man launch rule at nuclear facilities, the president still has to make the decision to verify and to retaliate or not. There is no time for being flustered and confused.  A decision will need to be made.”

There are a host of other issues and problems that come with mixing leadership and dementia but we hope that Grandpa Joe will be satisfied as a political consultant on the sidelines. His close advisers need to talk to him about this ASAP but this conversation will need to take place in the early morning hours.
